Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Project CLAM (Cookery Learning and Assessment using Multimedia) in enhancing the teaching and learning of TLE 9 Cookery. Specifically, it examined the impact of multimedia-based strategies, such as interactive video demonstrations and online recipe blogs, on students’ academic performance, engagement, and skill development. The study also identified the challenges learners encountered during the implementation of Project CLAM and proposed improvements based on both quantitative and qualitative results. A descriptive research design was employed, utilizing teacher-made pretests and post tests, structured questionnaires, and interviews with selected Grade 9 students.

Findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ performance across key competencies in Cookery after the integration of multimedia-based instruction. Interactive videos helped learners better understand procedures, increased motivation, and improved their cooking confidence. Similarly, online blogs supported independent practice and provided opportunities for students to revisit lessons and explore new techniques. However, challenges such as internet connectivity issues, limited access to digital devices, and difficulty in transferring video-based learning into practical output were also reported. Interview responses reinforced these findings, with students highlighting improvements in plating, time management, and overall skills. To address these issues, an enhanced action plan was developed incorporating blended learning strategies, TESDA Online Program integration, peer collaboration, and regular digital skills orientation. The study concludes that while Project CLAM is effective in enriching TLE 9 Cookery instruction, further support and resource accessibility are necessary to fully maximize its benefits for diverse learners.
