User Acceptability of Developed and Validated Training Module for BFAR CAR SAAD Program Phase 2

Abstract

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- Cordillera Administrative Region (BFAR-CAR) implements the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2 to enhance the livelihood and entrepreneurial competencies of fisherfolk beneficiaries. As part of its capacity-building initiatives, various training activities are conducted to equip beneficiaries with the necessary knowledge and skills. However, there is an opportunity to further strengthen training delivery through the development of a validated and standardized training module that promotes consistency, relevance, and effectiveness across learning interventions.

This study aimed to develop, validate, and determine the user acceptability of a training module for BFAR CAR SAAD Program Phase 2. Specifically, it sought to evaluate the module based on expert validation and assess its acceptability among fisherfolk beneficiaries in terms of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions.

The study employed a quantitative and correlational research design. Five (5) expert validators and fifteen (15) fisherfolk beneficiaries were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validation checklist based on Content Validity Index (CVI) and a User Acceptability Checklist anchored on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The gathered data were analyzed using mean and Fleiss’ Kappa to determine the level of acceptability and agreement among respondents.

Results revealed that the developed training module obtained an overall mean of 3.80 from expert validators and 3.53 from beneficiaries, both interpreted as Very Much Acceptable. Furthermore, a significant agreement was observed between expert validators and beneficiaries regarding the acceptability of the module. The findings indicate that the developed training module is highly acceptable and can serve as an effective instructional and extension tool for BFAR CAR SAAD Program Phase2, contributing to the enhancement of fisheries-based livelihood and enterprise development programs.
