Managing Administrative Tasks: Exploring Challenges and Coping Mechanisms of the Administrative Officers of Sanvillar Districts

Abstract

This study explored the extent of implementation of key result areas for administrative officers, the challenges they encountered, the coping mechanisms they applied while facing those challenges, and the possible action plan to enhance task management strategies and strengthen their coping mechanisms.

The study further identified a significant relationship between the extent of implementation of key result areas by administrative officers and the degree of challenges they experienced. There was also a significant correlation between the degree of challenges experienced and the level of applied coping mechanisms. Among those challenges and coping mechanisms, a possible action plan was developed to enhance task management strategies and strengthen the coping mechanisms they have applied to face difficulties or challenges at work.

Findings revealed that administrative officers are consistent in doing their given duties and responsibilities based on their own evaluation and their direct supervisor’s evaluation results. It also shows that workload and time pressure, role ambiguity and conflict, emotional and mental stress, and inadequate resources or tools were the common challenges they have encountered while administering their tasks. The most common coping mechanism that they have applied in facing the said challenges was the problem-focused mechanism, wherein they adopted new strategies to improve efficiency, and they actively seek information to better understand the problems they face at work.

In conclusion, the study explored the extent to which administrative officers implemented key result areas, the degree of challenges they experienced, the level of coping mechanisms they applied, the significant relationship between the extent of implementation of key result areas and the degree of challenges, the significant correlation between the degree of challenges and the level of coping mechanisms they applied, and the possible action plan to enhance task management strategies of administrative officers and to strengthen their coping mechanisms.
