Abstract

Making video scripts and video-based learning materials are increasingly used to support Mathematics instruction, particularly in aligning the lessons with the MATATAG Curriculum and Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs).

His study aimed to develop and evaluate the quality of scripts and video-based learning materials for Mathematics 7, ensuring alignment with MELCs and effectiveness in content, language, and technical presentation.

A developmental research design was used, involving six scripts and six video lessons evaluated by a Division LR evaluator, school head, master teacher, and SGOD Chief. Instruments assessed content, language, technical design, and presentation. Mean scores and inter-rater reliability (Kappa) were used for analysis.

Initial script evaluations were rated “Very Satisfactory,” with content scores ranging from 3.67 to 3.90 and perfect MELC alignment (4.00). Revisions improved all scripts to perfect scores (4.00) in language indicators. Video evaluations initially showed mixed results, with some rated “Fair” due to audio and visual issues. After revisions, all videos achieved “Very Satisfactory” ratings, with scores improving up to 4.00. Inter-rater reliability also improved significantly, reaching perfect agreement (Kappa = 1.00) in several cases.

The refined scripts and video materials demonstrated high quality, strong curriculum alignment, and improved technical presentation, making them effective and reliable instructional resources for Mathematics 7 classrooms.
