Entrepreneurial Competencies Among Micro, Small and Medium-Size Enterprises in Jolo

This descriptive-correlational study determined extent of sub-categories of competencies of micro, small and medium-size business enterprises in Jolo, Sulu during the fiscal year 2021, the respondents’ demographic profiles in terms of gender, age, civil status and educational attainment; and the significant correlation and differences in the sub-categories subsumed under competencies of micro, small and medium-size business enterprises when data are classified according to respondents’ demographic profiles. The frequency counts and percentage were used to determine the respondents’ profile, mean and standard deviation were used to determine the extent of competencies of micro small and medium-size business enterprises in Jolo, Sulu, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (Pearson r), t-Test for independent samples and One-Way ANOVA were used to determine the significant correlation and the differences in the extent of competencies of micro small and medium-size business enterprises. This study reveals that of the 100 respondents, more one-half the total respondent is female, more on 30 years old & below and 31-40 years old, more are married individuals, and more than one-half are with bachelor’s degree. Extent of competencies of micro, small and medium-size business enterprises in terms of Opportunity competencies, Relationship competencies, Conceptual competencies, Organizing competencies, Strategic competencies, and Commitment competencies are rated as “Moderate Extent”. Variables Gender, Age, Civil Status and Educational Attainment have NO significant intervention on the ways how entrepreneurs in Jolo, Sulu perceived the extent of competencies of micro, small and medium-size business enterprises when data are classified according to respondents’ profile. Sub-categories subsumed under micro, small and medium-size business enterprises such as Opportunity competencies, Relationship competencies, Conceptual competencies, Organizing competencies, Strategic competencies, and Commitment competencies are highly correlated.
