An Evaluation of the Implementation of Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers in Public Elementary Schools of San Jacinto, Division of Pangasinan II

Abstract

This study aimed to determine and evaluate the extent of implementation of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers of Public Elementary Schools in the Municipality of San Jacinto, Division of Pangasinan II, School Year 2025-2026. It analyzed the 7 domains of PPST such as Content Knowledge and Pedagogy, Learning Environment Safety and Security, Diversity of Learners, Curriculum and Planning, Assessment and Reporting, Community Linkages, and Personal Growth and Development. The profile of the teachers is analyzed and evaluated with the PPST as the tool and standard. There were 315 teachers and 33 school administrators who participated in the study using the questionnaire as a tool in getting the data and descriptive research design as a way analyzing and interpreting the collected data. Findings showed that the teachers were mostly Bachelor's degree holders with teacher 1-6 teaching positions, and a minimum of 0 to 10 years of teaching experience. PPST was found to be moderately implemented across the 7 domains, as proven by the average weighted means. The teachers and school administrators did not contradict each other, as they perceived the same extent of implementation of the PPST; further, the profile of the teachers did not affect the extent of implementation as well. It was recommended that the proposed action plan should be endorsed to the Schools Division Office of Pangasinan II for proper implementation of all public schools in the municipality of San Jacinto, Pangasinan.
