Abstract

The White Deer Award of Excellence serves as a strategic initiative to establish credible recognition mechanism that celebrates exceptional achievements and promotes excellence across education, government, and non-government sectors. This study explores the White Deer Award of Excellence as a strategic initiative for establishing credible recognition mechanisms across education, government, and non-government sectors in Region XII. Using an Explanatory-Sequential Mixed Method Research Design, the study investigates how a transparent and strategic awards system can promote excellence and foster a culture of meritocracy. The quantitative phase assesses the relationship between the quality of the White Deer Award and the creation of credible recognition bodies. Data was collected from DepEd districts, municipalities, and NGO offices that recognize outstanding employees annually. Findings revealed that the White Deer Award is perceived as a credible recognition body, with high ratings for transparency, consistency in criteria, and the credibility of the judging panel. The correlation analysis indicates that the award is positively linked with key educational outcomes, such as accreditation and alignment with educational standards. Thematic analysis highlights the importance of community-based validation, direct observation, and thorough evaluation in ensuring credibility. Furthermore, participants suggest strategies to increase awareness, including integrating the award into professional development, utilizing digital toolkits, and promoting it through social media and academic channels. Overall, the study underscores the White Deer Award’s effectiveness in fostering excellence and enhancing the credibility of educational and organizational programs in Region XII.
