The Impact of School Support Services On Students’ Performance: The Foundation for Development Plan

This study focused on the extent of the implementation of school support services and its impact on students’ performance during and after modular distance learning in public secondary schools in Cluster V, Division of Quezon for the school year 2022 – 2023.
The subject of the study would be the teachers teaching in public secondary schools in Cluster V, Division of Quezon. In quantitative analysis, researcher used two hundred forty-eight teachers in the said division. They were purposively selected by the researcher to assess the extent of implementation of school support services and its impact on students’ performance in public secondary schools in terms of stakeholders’ partnership, learning environment, WASH in school, health and nutrition, and psychological support. However, in a qualitative research design, the research purposively selects the eight (8) teacher-participants for an interview on their significant experiences in the implementation of school support services.
The findings of the study revealed that the school support services are highly implemented in terms of stakeholders’ partnership, learning environment, health and nutrition, psychological support, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in school. The implementation of schools’ support services can play a crucial role in students' overall well-being and, consequently, their academic performance. School support services had an impact on the students’ performance during and after the modular distance learning. Investing school support services and resources can have a lasting impact on students’ performance as well as in educational outcomes. Students appreciate the personalized approach and individual attention they receive from support service providers towards the improvement of their performance.
As an outcome of the findings and the conclusions, the following recommendations were enumerated: Schools may encourage collaboration and partnerships between the stakeholders and the employees that could support the services given to students. Schools may facilitate regular communication and feedback between teachers and students. Schools may acquire adequate technology and infrastructure support that can reduce barriers to learning, ensuring students fully participation in online or digital activities. Schools may implement school support services that could lead to improved collaboration and coordination among stakeholders, including parents, teachers, school administrators, and community members. Also, teachers may promote effective mentoring that can help students set goals, manage their time effectively, and develop strategies for independent learning.
