Abstract

This action research aimed to improve the reading abilities and level of frustration and non-readers of grades 7-10 in selected schools for the school year 2024-2025 through Video-Model Approach. This action research relied chiefly on the results of the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory conducted last September 2024. The study used a descriptive method to determine the student's reading performance. The data gathered were tabulated, evaluated, and analyzed using percentages to identify the students’ reading levels.

The respondents of this study were divided into 2 groups, the first group consisted of those students who are considered non-readers and the second group included those who can understand simple words but still need guidance from the teachers. With this, the researcher enhanced the design of the remedial reading program by employing a video modeling technique to rectify and improve non-readers’ reading abilities which will take place every Monday and Tuesday of each week where students are asked to watch creative story videos and will answer different level questions afterwards.

The results of this oral reading assessment will be used as a reference to determine the effectiveness of the video-modeling approach.
